Getting into the right shoes

DG and I both got properly fitted at our local running store for shoes.  They patiently listened to me whine about my heel pain, and then put me in a pair of neutral shoes that are perfect.  Now I usually wear a 6.5 -7 dress shoe.  My pair of Brooks Defyance 5 are a size 8.5! What?  The vanity alone almost stopped me from getting them.  But my arch is supported, my heel pain is very minimal, and they are cushiony and springy like nothing I've ever worn.

DG has some mild over-pronation and needs some stability.  I had been out shopping one day and picked him up this pair of Nike Lunar Glides,

Yes, they look cool.  But... he said they were rubbing and tore up his ankles. Seriously, it looked he had gotten a terrible rope burn.

So, the running shop watched his gait and put him in the Electric Blue ASICS GT 2170.  He loved them so much, I went looking around and bought him the same model in a different color, the grey.  I had two coupons for Sports Authority, so got that second pair for a good deal.
